DMS Technology

for the acquisition of the pair

  • cost-effective
  • Highly accurate

The strain gauge (DMS) is based on the principle that a workpiece is mechanically deformed and this deformation is transmitted by a meandered wire (DMS). Through the tensioning of the wire, a variable electrical resistance is produced, which consequently represents the measurement of the mechanical deformation of the materials.

This procedure is frequently used for voltage and pressure measurements and appears to be simple in its application to determine a torque value, the DMS meter is usually arranged 45 degrees to the torque axis and the electrical resistance is obtained by using several gauges.

The usable linear area between torque and resistance change is not as large as with the Piezo transducer. They are made to match the respective torque ranges of our screwdrivers. Due to the rather large dispersion and many different standard components available, this is a relatively low cost solution.

The torque transducer is suitable for use on stationary measuring platforms as well as on mobile torque wrenches in in-line or angle-angle design. The transducers are designed for connection to the corresponding measuring electronics.

The torque wrenches also allow in-line testing of stationary screwdrivers without the need to remove them from an automatic screwdriving station. The torque wrenches are equipped with side flats on the measuring head so that they can be clamped in a press.

In conjunction with the appropriate measuring instrument, these torque wrenches can also be used for testing manufactured connections by retightening (or loosening) the connection. DEPRAG torque measuring systems combine the application variety of conventional torque wrenches with the accuracy and capabilities of today’s most modern electronic measuring technology.
