Calibration service

Process reliability in bolting technology

With a DEPRAG calibration you can always be sure that your measuring equipment provides reliable, competent measuring results with the necessary traceability to national standards. DEPRAG has an accredited calibration laboratory where various calibration methods can be used to calibrate with traceability and the lowest measurement uncertainty, covering torques from 0.01 Nm to 500 Nm.

For how long is the calibration valid?
In principle, a calibration is only valid at the time it is carried out. It is normally the responsibility of the user to decide the duration of the calibration intervals. The application, i.e., workplace conditions, method of use of the measuring tool, frequency of use, and safety issues for the workpieces to be assembled are considerations when determining calibration intervals.

If a measurement tool is used in a running assembly process, it makes more sense to have shorter calibration intervals than if a measurement tool is only used infrequently in a laboratory environment.

Verification cycles could take place every 3 months or 3 years.

We recommend recalibrating our measurement system at least once a year.

Calibration of torque transducers in the DAkkS calibration laboratory, D-K-18255-01-00

Calibration of DEPRAG torque transducers
In the DAkkS accredited calibration laboratory and factory calibrations of torque measuring transducers are carried out in accordance with validated procedures. The documentation of the results is presented in a calibration certificate containing all measured values and the corresponding measurement uncertainties. Depending on the application and the desired measurement uncertainty, the number of calibration procedures performed can be increased or decreased to differentiate between the loading direction, the number of installation points as well as the measurement uncertainties achieved. Measuring transducers based on strain gauge and piezoelectric technology can also be calibrated. Calibrations can be performed in accordance with DIN 51309 or VDI/VDE 2646 (calibration procedures). The calibration is generally distributed in 8 torque steps in a range of 10%-100% of the measuring range.
The calibration kit is available for the torque range 0.01 Nm – 500 Nm.

All DEPRAG measuring transducers are calibrated in the standard measuring range on delivery (see product catalog D3020E). Specialized calibrations for atypical measurement ranges are available upon request.

Calibration service for torque transducers from other manufacturers

All of the above calibration procedures are also available for the calibration of torque transducers from other manufacturers. To verify suitability and determine a suitable procedure, we require information regarding the technical implementation of the transducer, the application conditions and the required measurement uncertainty.
We will be pleased to answer any questions you may have regarding the calibration of torque transducers from other manufacturers.

Measurement system analysis (MSA) in the calibration laboratory

To analyze the capability of a measuring system consisting of torque transducer and measuring electronics, we perform measurement system analysis in accordance with procedure 1 of our DAkkS-accredited calibration laboratory (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025). The result confirms the suitability of a measurement system for a specific application by determining the capacitance values. The analysis of the measurement system is performed using the specified test torque.

Calibration of the measurement electronics

In essence, all components of the measurement chain are calibrated separately. The measuring devices for the piezoelectric transducer are subjected to a comparison measurement and realigned if necessary using a load calibration device and measuring devices for the strain gauge transducer with a strain gauge calibrator. The standards used for DAkkS and factory calibrations follow national standards and therefore meet the highest quality requirements. The measuring transducers are calibrated and documented in our own calibration laboratory in accordance with standardized calibration procedures.

Factory calibration of measuring devices/measuring electronics

Measuring devices or measuring electronics are tested as a function. At the same time, the calibration value is determined for the measuring cell. The results are documented in a protocol, the manufacturer’s verification certificate. Calibration activities are based on currently valid standards, in particular DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories).
